It’s pretty interesting to see the difference in art style between Origins and DA2. Here’s my favorite example of “characters who look younger in DA2 even though they shouldn’t,” Nathaniel Howe.

My Dragon Age protags! My first time drawing my Cousland in umm…a long time, which shame on me since I liked that playthrough the most.

celesticides: You … did notice that no one in either game ever referred to being made a warden as a favor?  No, because it’s a life sentence of grimdark horrorterror.  Taking Anders’ offer and putting her in that place isn’t saving her life so much as prolonging her death, and that sucks ass for her.  You get this young girl who’s spent her entire life in the company of family, then she nearly dies so you pass her off to a bunch of strangers?  No wonder her ass is chapped; it takes time to deal with that sort of life-altering change, on top of the fact that she’s still an apostate mage.  You remember how well that worked out for Anders, right? ^^^^*facepalm* So I guess anon has never been even remotely  placed in a situation like this, summercamp? staying over a relative’s house you didn’t particularly care for? Being sent some place you’ve never really asked for but your parents did it anyway because they thought it was good for you? No you can’t relate? Can you at least empathize?  No of course not otherwise this confession wouldn’t have been made. One thing I gotta give DA2 credit for was that it showed the GW’s in a totally different light than Origins did it’s not all ride griffins and save the world and have smarmy templars telling funny jokes the whole time through.

I just have to say, in light of things like the silly confession that someone submitted about there being so much wank in DA fandom over things… I really just have to laugh and call bullshit.

I am one of the most paranoid people on the face of the planet. I tend to hide in the shadows for a good…

I have to say, the vast majority of the fandom (or at least the corner of it I like to hang out in) has good heads on their shoulders. They’re respectful to others, welcoming to newcomers, and come up with some great theories and interpretations which they can discuss intelligently. Even those who prefer some ships to others generally remain welcoming to those in different clubs. I find I encounter more vitriol on the BSN than on tumblr, which I has pretty much lead to my withdrawal from that place and permanent encampment here. This is definitely the best fandom I’ve been involved in, and it’s no small part to all the wonderful people here.

well, i’ve gone on and on about how much this game has meant to me and how much the people i’ve met because of the game have meant to me, too, so please forgive me as i do it again!

i was too shy for the bsn, and mostly too shy for the lj community stuff; the anonymity of the kinkmeme was lovely in that it gave me a chance to post writing, gave me incentive and also gave me safe, nameless space to do so. no expectations and no holding back, writing just because i wanted to again—something that hadn’t happened in a long time. but it was a little lonely doing that and nothing else. after months of it, even i—lurkiest of lurkers—wanted to meet people, and share the experiences with them, and talk to them, about anything, everything. doing that is awesome. spending far too much time on here is awesome. the friends i’ve made and the people i admire and those i’m too nervous to talk to and those i’ve managed to talk to despite my nervousness—the discussions, the conversations, the creativity—are all pretty awesome. 

not everyone’s experience is going to be the same. what seems friendly and welcoming and open and wonderful to some is—unfortunately—always going to seem like something else coming from a different angle. i wish it was not so! i wish i was less shy, more outgoing, had more to offer—as despite everything, because of everything, with everything, considering everything, this is the place for me. i keep coming back to it. insights and ideas and inspiration, all that good stuff, and chats and conversation and jokes and excitement. i think about what i’d be doing with my time if it wasn’t for all of that, and i realize i have no idea.

(it definitely wouldn’t be as fun, though.)

 Pretty much ALL of this. I may have my moments of doubt and my moments of low self-esteem, but I love this fandom so much.

Seconded on the BSN sentiment, though I’ve seen some of the venom there spill onto tumblr it really depends on what character threads you venture into and what your generally into. There is always going to be blatant wank in a fandom no matter how big or small, but the vibes from the DA fandom generally tend to be good ones here’s hoping it stays that way…

Anyway to get old gal out of the party? I like doing DLC run-throughs with my perfect teams. I can’t have interlopers fucking up my dynamics.

If anyone has seen the interview where she&#8217;s talking about it she was talking about her character and the backstory and how you&#8217;ll get to learn more about her through the web series and whatnot. Like this reeks of Sue-ism and catering. DA2 is (like it or not) struggling in terms of fan reception so why would you offer up some gimmicky ass DLC that adds nothing to the lore and is nothing more than some wankery for Felicia Day and her web series?  Nobody is &#8220;hatin&#8221;, but the DLC should be an attempt to patch up things with the fans and address the issues that were had with DA2. Sure Bioware could&#8217;ve pimped her webseries on the official FB or something (like they do with every other fan creation) but to go out of there way to make a DLC just for her character? I don&#8217;t seem to recall people asking en masse  about Tallis and wanting Felicia Day in a game.
